Bravo Zulu Dog Training is one of just a few training businesses in the Hampton Roads area offering a Board and Train service with force-free, reward-based methods!

Sending your dog for our Board & Train is similar to sending your kid to Summer camp - you may not be there with them, but you can rest assured that your pup is getting personalized, one-on-one attention with a professional trainer! Weonly board one dog at a time so your pup gets undivided attention from our certified trainer, that is customized to your needs. Your dog becomes one of our trainer's family during their stay! They will get lots of affection, playtime, daily walks or hikes, multiple small training sessions throughout each day, and lots of physical and mental stimulation. And you'll receive daily progress reports through check-ins, photos, and videos to see how your pup is doing! The time spent with your dog will be efficient, goal-oriented, safe, and FUN!

Board & Train is not a quick fix for every behavior problem and not every dog will be appropriate for a Board & Train experience. Below are some common examples of dogs who may benefit!

Puppies
Need help jump-starting your puppy’s socialization?

How about working on his/her tolerance to handling and cooperative care, introduction to the crate, sociability with other appropriate adult dogs, and potty training?

Adult dogs
Does your adolescent doggo seem to have selective hearing?

Have you noticed some regression in your dog’s skills, such as basic manners, coming when you call, and leash walking skills?

Does your dog get overly excited when seeing other dogs out and about in public?

Cat was a trainer and shelter manager and understands the issues that come with adopting a new family member.

We can help your dog learn some of the basics – sit, down, wait, come when called (recall), and polite leash walking…to name a few.

Pricing
The Board & Train program involves a two-week minimum commitment to begin and the program cost includes the following:

  • Picking up your dog from your home and returning your dog at the end of their stay
  • Regular updates via text, photos, and videos
  • Instructional videos of the exercises and activities your dog enjoys during their stay
  • A 90-minute Transfer Session when your dog is returned home
  • On-going support after the program ends

Cat worked with me and my 10-year old Malti-poo to help him adjust after adoption. Starting with basics like “calm on mat” and “spin” helped to build his confidence so as we moved into more advanced areas, like getting him comfortable with a muzzle (for ear cleaning) and dog reactivity, he learned that much faster. Cat is patient with owners like me who are new to dog training and gives you realistic homework and all the support and extra help you need. I basically consider her my “dog tutor” and will continued to reach out to her, and I know my pup is a fan. 🙂

Cat at Bravo Zulu Dog Training was invaluable when my husband and I adopted our dog, Kepler. Beyond the command training, she also taught us to help Kepler adjust to his new home, how to keep his mind and body active, how to read his body language, and how introduce him to the cats at home.
